Flatiron Partners with the Bletchley Fellowship to Expand Apprenticeships

August 5, 2025

We are proud to announce that Flatiron is partnering with the Bletchley Fellowship to offer a new set of paid apprenticeship opportunities for both college students and bootcamp graduates. This partnership reflects our commitment to building a sustainable, work‑integrated education model that prepares learners for the demands of a rapidly changing tech industry.

Building a Career While You Learn

The Bletchley Fellowship is a workforce development initiative that connects students with mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities designed to fund their education. Through our new partnership, Flatiron will serve as an apprenticeship partner for both college and bootcamp Fellows.

Apprentices will gain real‑world experience working alongside our engineering and data science teams while continuing their education, combining academic growth with practical application.

Apprenticeships for College Fellows

As part of the Bletchley Fellowship’s college program, Flatiron will create apprenticeship spots for Fellows in January 2026:

  • Engineering Team: Software engineering apprenticeships

  • Data Science Team: Data engineering apprenticeships

These roles will be designed to provide meaningful contributions to Flatiron’s products while helping apprentices develop the skills, habits, and confidence required for long‑term success in the industry. Apprentices will not be involved in delivering educational programs (teaching, assisting, support, etc)

Apprenticeships for Bootcamp Fellows

In addition to supporting college apprentices, Flatiron is launching a new apprenticeship program for bootcamp or recent college (computer science) graduates beginning in September 2025. These roles will be designed to provide meaningful contributions to Flatiron’s products while helping apprentices develop the skills, habits, and confidence required for long‑term success in the industry. Apprentices will not be involved in delivering educational programs (teaching, assisting, support, etc). Apprenticeships are open to any eligible graduate, not just Flatiron alumni, and are structured as follows:

Data Science Apprenticeships

  • Who Can Apply: Any data science bootcamp graduate or recent college grad with an equivalent degree

  • Location Requirement: Must be able to work in‑person at least one day per week in New York City

  • Support: Program tuition fully covered plus a monthly living stipend

Engineering Apprenticeships

  • Who Can Apply: Any software engineering / coding bootcamp graduate  or recent college grad with an equivalent degree

  • Location Requirement: Must be able to work in‑person at least one day per week in Columbia, SC

  • Support: Program tuition fully covered plus a monthly living stipend

Our Commitment to the Work‑Integrated Model

The traditional divide between education and work no longer meets the needs of the technology workforce. Flatiron’s partnership with the Bletchley Fellowship represents a step toward a new model, one where learners earn while they learn, graduate with relevant experience, and enter the job market as proven contributors.

We believe the work‑integrated model is the future of tech education, and these apprenticeship programs are just the beginning. By working with forward‑thinking partners like the Bletchley Fellowship, we can make high‑quality technical education more accessible, practical, and impactful for the next generation of tech leaders.
